BOTOX® Cosmetic Injection

BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are a fast and simple way to nearly eliminate the creases around your eyes called "crow's feet" and "worry lines" on your forefead and between the eyes. Botox can also help with lines around the lips and neck, and can help decrease excessive sweating under the arms.

Dr. Platis is one of approximately twenty plastic surgeons nationwide selected to train other physicians in proper BOTOX® Cosmetic injection techniques.

Procedure:

A very small needle is used to inject BOTOX® Cosmetic directly into whatever muscles are causing the wrinkles. As the muscle relaxes, it can no longer cause a crease or wrinkle. There is no down time associated with BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments, and normal daily activity can be resumed immediately.

Results:

Most patients begin to see results the following day, and these results continue to improve over the next two weeks. The effect will usually last about four months at which time the procedure will need to be repeated. Overall, a more relaxed and youthful appearance will be restored to you with very little effort.

Is BOTOX® Cosmetic safe?

Yes. BOTOX® Cosmetic has been used for decades to treat spastic muscles, but has been used for about ten years for the cosmetic treatment of facial lines. Its effects are safe and wear off in a matter of months.

How will the treatment feel?

You will feel the same except you will be unable to contract that specific muscle(s). Your facial expressions for the most part will be the same, but the lines will be reduced or eliminated.

Are there possible side-effects?

One very rare side effect is that the eyelid may be relaxed and droop ever so slightly. This is very unusual, however, and can be treated with eye drops until it resolves, usually within a few days. Many patients have also related that BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments have helped eliminate their tension or migraine headaches!
