Thigh Lift Enhancement Procedure

After significant weight loss or with age the skin around the lower body and thighs can loose its elasticity and start to hang or droop. The lower body lift tightens loose, sagging skin in the buttocks, posterior thighs, hips, outer and inner thighs. Liposuction may also be performed at the same time as a lower body lift as well as a tummy tuck. If more extensive work needs to be done on the abdominal area, such as a belt lipectomy, then Dr. Platis may recommended doing the lower body and mid-section surgeries separately.

Ideal Candidates

Unfortunately after significant weight loss many of our Chicago and Northwest, Indiana lower body lift patients are "rewarded" with a lot of excess skin. The only way for them to improve their contour is to get rid of all the extra skin. If there is loose or hanging skin around the buttocks and thighs a lower body lift can help.

How It's Done

In order to remove the extra skin an incision is made which passes from the back around the hips to the front of the thighs. The loose skin, as well as underlying tissue, is removed. The incisions are placed so that they may be concealed or are placed in naturally occurring folds or creases.

Results and Recovery

After all the extra skin is removed patients feel so much better and their contour is dramatically improved. A compressive garment should be worn for several weeks after surgery and many of our patients notice that they feel very tired for the first week or so after surgery as their body adjusts and heals. Plan to take it easy for the first week or two and 10-14 days off from work.
